The Worlds We Speak

Mola di Bari, Italy

Mola di Bari is a coastal town in Italy’s Puglia region, near the city of Bari. Especially after the Second World War, a large number of Molesi migrants came first to Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens in particular, and later elsewhere including Staten Island, establishing several Molesi clubs that are still going strong. Mola di Bari, like other towns and villages in Puglia, has a dialect all its own, though closely related to neighboring ones.
